In a petite corner of Serene Centre along Adam Road, Oishi Japanese Pizza lays hidden next to the toy shop on the second floor of the building. The small interior allows for only for 30 sit in customers to sit comfortably, so it is no surprise that Oishi Japanese Pizza specialises in deliveries.
Oishi Japanese Pizza makes Japanese styled pizza on top of some western typical flavours like Beef Bolognaise and Pepperoni Supreme. I ordered the Family Combo for $44.90 which includes two pizzas, a fried finger food platter of 6 scallops, 6 Mochiko Wings, 6 Tempura Ebi; and a 1.5 liter bottle of soft drink.
Finger Food Platter
I ( and the 4 kids with me ) enjoyed this tremendously. The scallops and ebi (prawn) were breaded tempura-style and deep fried to a crispy golden brown. Dip them in the mayonnaise provided and it is an enjoyable appetizer.
The chicken is fried with mochiko, which stands for sweet rice flour in Japanese. This creates a texture that is softer and at the same time, provides a sweet coating to the crunch.
Cheesy Mushroom Pizza
I am a mushroom lover, so this pizza was my manna. Shiitake mushrooms and white button mushrooms were sliced and topped generously onto a layer of cheese, and baking the pizza with these two ingredients combined them into a sweet delectable circle presented in the form above.
Unagi pizza with country greens.
Unagi is Japanese for freshwater eel. It is a common delicacy in Japanese dishes, because of its rich and unique flavour. Unagi can be tricky to perfect because if overcooked, its skin will turn gel-like and make this fish slimy.
The unagi here is flavourful and has a lovely texture to it. The greens balances out the stronger taste of unagi in a way that makes this pizza an enjoyable treat.
Oishi Japanese Pizza definitely matches up to Pizza Hut when you are planning for a pizza night at home! Their delivery hotline is 6555 5656. But they only deliver to certain areas nearby their outlets in Serene Centre and Hougang Ave 1.
