When I was in Australia, the highlight of my trip was to Fremantle Market in Perth. On every Sunday, the usually empty concourse in Fremantle will be occupied with street performers, and a huge tentage will house approximately a hundred stalls. That was Perth’s farmer’s market. This concept was never before held in Singapore, but it changed this year when The Pantry Cookery School started the Singapore styled farmer’s market.
Every first and third Saturday of the month from 9am to 2pm, 75E Loewen Cluster will transform into a farmer’s market. It’s unlike the large scale affair in Perth, instead Singapore’s Farmer’s market focuses on the freshest foods like tomatoes, eggs, onions, garlic and more, offering only homegrown and handpicked ones. Of course, as it was organized by the cooking school, one can expect that our Farmer’s market has not just delicious but also adorable looking sweets!

Fresh fruits and other foods!
For budding chefs who cannot seem to get enough fresh and organic ingredients for their dishes in the metropolitan city of Singapore, mark down the dates on your calendars for the 1st and 3rd Saturdays in every month! However, as all chefs know, great ingredients do come at a price. As I was standing there, I saw someone making away with 50 dollars worth of groceries from this stall.
Blend of tea leaves and homemade jams, imported.
Swirled cheese brownies for sale! There were two other flavors – dark chocolate with cranberry and triple chocolate.
Cupcakes!
The brownies and cupcakes were freshly made on the day itself. So one can only imagine how early the bakers have to wake up in order to provide these scrumptious treats for the customers.
More cupcakes and goodies.
Pies for sale! I bought a steak pie for $9. A bit pricey but the crust was fantastic and the filling even more so. The baker used real button mushrooms and steak in a generous serving of homemade sauce.
Assorted fresh nuts.
A BBQ stall if anyone is up for early morning meats.
Wine stalls.
There is also a considerable amount of wine stalls, in proportion to the stalls this farmer’s market has. At least 3 out of the approximately 20 stalls are wine stalls. And they do offer free tasting so if you have a spot for wine tasting, why not just head down there to try some?
Though quaint and small, this farmer market has a lot to offer in terms of service and quality. Almost every stall selling food will offer you a taste of what they sell before you buy it, and trust me when I say I ended up forking out quite a bit, all thanks to my weak resistance to these sugary devils.

Hi there….
May I know is this a rain or shine event? Really looking forward to going to the market this Saturday but with the weather lately, it is just so unpredictable.
@Warner, did you manage to go? You can contact The Pantry Cookery School on whether they have wet weather programs – 6474-0441 (They are the organisers)
